A collar that's too tight is uncomfortable, a harness that's too loose slips, and a bed that's too small is no use at all. Take 2 minutes to measure your companion and you'll pick the right size first time 🐾
The exact dimensions of each product are listed on its product page, along with a tool to help you choose. This guide shows you how to take the right measurements.
What you'll need
- A soft tape measure (or a piece of string and a ruler)
- A treat, to keep your dog or cat nice and still 😉
- Your pet standing up, head held straight
Neck circumference — collars
Measure at the base of the neck, where the collar naturally sits. You should be able to slide two fingers between the tape and the neck: that's the ideal amount of room. Then compare your measurement with the adjustment range shown on the collar's product page.
Chest circumference — harnesses
Measure the widest part of the rib cage, just behind the front legs. Here too, leave two fingers of room. This is the most important measurement for a harness: if your pet is between two sizes, check their neck circumference too.
Back length — blankets and hammocks
Measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. For a grooming hammock, your pet's weight matters too: it's listed for each size.
Beds, cushions and sofas
Watch your companion while they sleep:
- Curled up in a ball: measure them from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail while curled up, and add about 10 cm.
- Stretched out full length: measure from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail while lying stretched out, and add 15 to 20 cm.
If they love to sprawl or are still growing, go for the next size up.
Mats and doormats
Measure the spot where you want to put it (in front of the litter box, under the bowl, in front of your door) and leave a few centimeters of margin on each side.
Between two sizes?
In general, go for the next size up for comfort, especially for a growing puppy or kitten. Not sure? Email us at kyvano.contact@gmail.com with your companion's measurements and breed: we'll help you choose.
